It comes after Amanda was issued a stern warning over her outfit ahead of the BGT final. In 2020, Amanda received 235 Ofcom complaints for her plunging navy gown, which viewers slammed as being “too revealing” for a family programme. In 2017, a Julien MacDonald dress – costing a whopping £11,250 – also sparked fury with its low neckline, attracting 663 Ofcom complaints – the most complained about TV moment that year.

Ahead of the live final, Amanda was been warned not to “overshadow the talent on the show” when it comes to her fashion choices – in a bid to “minimise controversy”. Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo shared how Amanda is a notable figure on the show, not just for her judging “but also her often daring and glamorous outfits.”

He explained: “Over the years, her fashion choices have stirred quite a bit of controversy. The complaints typically revolve around the perceived inappropriateness of her attire for a family-oriented show. The show is ultimately about showcasing the talents of the contestants. If a judge’s attire is causing more conversation than the performances, it might be perceived as overshadowing the talent the show aims to highlight.

Amanda’s dress was. called “inappropriate” by viewers

“While Amanda’s fashion is a part of her brand, it’s important to balance personal expression with the purpose of the show.” Dom went on to say how “a balanced approach for the final” could “help minimise controversy” as well as “ensure the spotlight stays on the deserving contestants”.

He added: “This doesn’t mean she needs to forgo her flamboyant style, but rather adapt it in a way that aligns with the event’s nature and audience expectations.”
