Jim Parsons confessed that performing sex scenes for Netflix series Hollywood “changed” him after years of starring as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory.
The actor played Henry Wilson in the raunchy series, with his character based on a real-life casting agent back in the 1940s. The actor admitted that filming his first on-screen romp with co-star Jake Picking was “uncomfortable”.
The star told Deadline: “The first one we did together that was predatorily charged was the one where he comes to my office and I say, ‘I’ll work with you,’ and then I force him into a sexual act in exchange for this.

“It was very early in our working relationship, and what’s funny is, the part that made me most uncomfortable was a part that wasn’t going to ever be on camera—and I don’t believe is in the final cut, now that I think about it. But we had a shot where we were face to face and he undoes his pants, and then I dropped out of frame. And obviously, nothing was literally happening, except it was an intimacy with somebody I didn’t know.”

The actor went on to confess: “I haven’t played a lot of sex scenes in my career, so it’s not something I was used to. I don’t even know if you would get used to it, so much. But it was funny the way the shoot went on long enough and I had enough scenes with him, and like I say, I had a really good relationship with him, so that by the time we got to doing the stuff where we were in bed together, after I was dancing for him and draping myself over him, it was so nice, the way that turned into a really fun thing to explore.”
He added that he knew his partner “well enough” that the intimate scenes – which didn’t feature any full-frontal nudity – wasn’t “horrifying and uncomfortable”, but “two actors in a playground” seeing what they could come up with.

It was Jim’s husband Todd Spiewak who convinced him to take the role, as he loved working with producer Ryan Murphy on other projects. The pair have been married since 2017, after Parsons came out as gay in a 2012 interview. By then he had been with Todd for a decade already, describing him as his “favourite person on earth”.
The pair first met on a blind date at a karaoke bar back in 2002, with Todd explaining: “My boss and Jim’s best friend from grad school were friends, two women, and they hooked us up. They were with us on the first date, so we weren’t alone.”

Jim later joked: “One of his greatest gifts to me is that he no longer takes me to sing karaoke.” The pair even founded a production company together in 2015, dubbed That’s Wonderful Productions, and the pair are executive producers together on Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon.
