Dancing on Ice’s Ryan Thomas makes heartfelt apology on air after terrifying fall

Dancing on Ice star Ryan Thomas has apologised profusely after dropping his partner in a horrific on-screen fall.

Thomas, 39, said that he felt awful that he had caused the terrifying crash as the pair fell to the floor during studio rehearsals for the ITV show. In the run-up to the live show on Sunday (February 4), the competing couples were able to give their routines a spin on the show’s rink.

However, in tense scenes aired on the show, the pair’s scheduled rehearsal on Saturday (February 3) left the pair taking a huge tumble. This meant the pair were fighting to recover in time for the live show which was just 24 hours away.

In the horrifying clip which aired in the run-up to their live performance, Ryan could be seen losing his balance whilst holding partner Amani in a dramatic lift in their routine. However, things took a turn when Ryan himself lost his balance, sending him to the floor with Amani being sent flying in the other direction.

With the studio rehearsals being one of the most important points of the couple’s preparation, Ryan and Amani were left dazed after the incident. However, the former Coronation Street star was quick to his feet to rush over to his partner to see if she was okay.

Skating over to her as she struggled to her feet, Ryan gave a heartfelt apology: “I’m so sorry.” As he helped her stand, the show’s crew were left rushing around making sure both received the right medical attention.

Ryan, later on in the video introduction, said to the viewers: “[I feel] pure guilt, because it’s all my fault.” Luckily for the duo, the pair were just stunned by the terrifying fall and the pair were able to make a full recovery and be better prepared for their live performance.

And thankfully for the twosome, their performance live on-air went off with no issues or dramatic falls, allowing Amani and Ryan to breathe a sigh of relief. The judges were also impressed with their ice skating prowess as the show has progressed, reaching an overall score of 29.

The routine formed part of the show’s take on various styles of dance on the show. Ryan set pulses racing as he put on a transparent shirt as he turned up the heat with his fellow performer dancing a Tango routine whilst on the rink.

Dancing on Ice airs every Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
