Eamonn Holmes fumes ‘don’t lecture me’ as he clashes with guest in live TV row

Eamonn Holmes snapped at a guest on his GB News show.

The former ITV presenter, who has split from his Loose Women star wife Ruth Langsford, got into a furious clash with an activist on Tuesday (August 13). Thing turned tense between Eamonn and motivational speaker Imarn Ayton.

Eamonn, 64, fumed “don’t lecture me!” after Imarn slammed his suggestion that flying the Union Jack flag was “no big deal”. Imarn told Eamonn: “I understand racism more than you!”.

Not taking any prisoners, Eamonn hit back: “Give me a break!”. Imarn had suggested Brits change their association with the flag because of its connection to far-right groups.

It came after reports that Claxton, a Norfolk village, had become divided over plans to erect a flagpole outside its village hall. Some residents claimed the flagpole could deter people coming to the village.

She also disagreed with historian Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, another guest on the show. She became upset when Eamonn finished with her opponent’s argument, so she told him to “be considerate” and started speaking over him.

Eamonn said: “Can I say something? You don’t have to lecture me.” Imarn replied: “No, I have to when you say things like that. ‘With all due respect.”

Eamonn, who was hosting with Ellie Costello, said: “Because I sit in the middle trying to see both sides of things.” Imarn complained: “But did you finish with mine? Did you finish with mine? You finished with race. And this is a right wing channel.”

Eamonn, who grew up in Belfast, argued: “I finished with everyone. I’m trying to say you did not grow up in Northern Ireland where a flag represented something political and anti to a certain religion. I did. I had to live with it.”

Imarn, who describes herself as a “racism thought leader”, fired back: “And just like with black people, you’re not black sir, and I understand racism more than you.”
