Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve sussed out the plot for the return of the village’s much-missed pooch Piper.
The beloved canine captivated hearts before being cruelly written off by abuser Tom King (played by the scheming James Chase) who tricked his other half, Belle Dingle (portrayed by the talented Eden Taylor-Draper), into believing her beloved dog had died.
Fans will recall how Tom mowed down Piper in his motor. He later spun a tale to Belle that he’d stumbled upon the injured doggo roadside. Tom played the hero attempting to save poor Piper, grimly informing Belle that the pup didn’t make it. But this was a lie.
Piper is actually still alive, reports Leeds Live. Flashback to the recent poignant send-off for Piper, and after, Tom secretly passed the not-so-late dog to an unsuspecting couple afar – telling them a pack of lies about Piper needing a new home due to a nasty former owner.
Time’s ticked on and Belles none the wiser about Piper’s true fate. The drama’s been cranking up though, teasing audiences with hints of a canine comeback. Chattering away at the Inside Soap Awards, the real-life humans behind the dog actor let slip to The Sun that Piper’s far from pushing up daisies.
“She is alive you never know!” They said. This titbit has fans in a tizzy, who have shared their theories on how the four-legged friend could waltz back into Emmerdale. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan hub, one superfan pitched in, “Have a feeling Piper will return for either Emmerdale super soap week or in run up to Christmas as the storyline comes to an end, sooner the better please.”
Someone else chimed in: “I’m hoping she gets out and taken to the vet for scanning.” Another added their two cents: “I think she will get out of the new house someone will find her take her to the vets and they will scan her to check who she belongs to and it will all come to light.”
Yet another joined the speculation, musing: “I wonder if the couple bring Piper to see a vet and one of the vets sees her?” And a fifth person speculated: “I’m waiting for Belle’s dog Piper to escape from her new owners and make her way back to Emmerdale, to be found by Rhona in the street who causes a big fuss, drawing the attention of Nicola and Jimmy. They realise that they’ve been fooled all along and tell the police.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
