Emmerdale fans think they’ve finally figured out a potential Graham Foster return – despite his apparent death in 2020.
Eagle-eyed viewers of the ITV soap have noticed a striking similarity between new GP surgery receptionist Ella Forster and Kim Tate’s late husband, who was seemingly murdered by Pierce who struck him over the head with a torch. Al later claimed he’d killed Graham so Kim would pay off his debts, though his dead body was never seen, and his funeral took place in private.
It’s got fans thinking there’s something amiss with newcomer Ella, with some suggesting the similarity between their surnames could imply she’s Graham’s daughter, or even his ex. Taking to X, one fan theorised: “People saying Ella is Tom King’s sister… well wouldn’t Jimmy recognise his own niece if it was? Before she joined I thought she was connected to Graham (Kim’s ex) but their surnames are slightly different as hers is Forster and his was Foster…”

Another followed up: “Ella and Graham NEARLY sharing a surname is too weird to be a coincidence in Emmerdale, surely… what if she’s related to him and he’s not really dead? We never saw the body…”

Theories have also abounded that Ella’s not quite as squeaky clean as she presents herself, with some suggesting she’s a secret “bunny boiler” who is using Liam for his money. One suggested on X: “What’s everyone’s thoughts on Ella? I half wonder could she be connected to Meena in some way? She mentioned how she used to have a friend, and she seems keen to be connected with Liam and Manpreet. But I’m prob way off.”
Another said: “I do feel something’s very off with Ella – far too full with on Liam in a really short space of time…” As another fan followed up: “Well I think the @emmerdale writers and producers will get Chas & Liam together. They know the viewers want them together so I think come Xmas (after Ella is exposed as to what she is there for or going to do) I think it will be a happy ending for Chas & Liam and a winter wedding.”

Former Coronation Street star Paula Lane, who plays Ella, says she “fit right in” to the village after initially being screen-tested as Holly Barton – a role that ultimately went to Sophie Powles. Paula invited the casting team to see her in a stage production last year, and they told her she was perfect for the part of Ella.
She gushed: “Now, when I’m there filming in the village, I think, ‘Oh my gosh, this is just the right fit for me’. Emmerdale has always been there and at this time in my life it feels very welcome. It’s exactly where I feel I should be right now.”

Paula previously played the late Kylie Platt in Corrie, who was killed off in a tragic stabbing incident back in 2016 while trying to protect Gemma from killer Clayton.
