Emmerdale star Dean Andrews has told fans that he was taken to hospital for surgery.
The 60-year-old soap star, who has played Will Taylor on the ITV soap since 2019, shared a snap from his hospital bed on Thursday (February 2). The actor was clad in a hospital gown and had a canula in his hand.
But the smiling star reassured fans he was okay by giving the camera a thumbs up. He thanked staff at Sheffield’s Thornbury hospital in his caption.

He wrote: “Surgery went well. Very happy to have woken up. Many thanks to my surgeon Chris and all the staff.”
Fans flocked to the comments to wish Dean well on his recovery. “Oh no! What has happened?,” asked one concerned fan. “I hope you’ll be feeling better super soon. Sending lots of love Dean.”
“Oh no hope all went well hope you feel better soon”, wrote another. A third commented: “Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Take care and look after yourself.”
Dean married his wife Helen in a stunning ceremony last August. He joked it could have been awkward as his on-screen wife Claire King, who plays Kim Tate, was in attendance. “I was hoping my two wives would be a little more upset when they found out about each other but it looks like they don’t give two hoots @hbg_indiarose #claireking @emmerdale”, he wrote alongside laughing emojis.
Before walking onto the Emmerdale set, Andrews starred in rival soap EastEnders as Dean in 2002, a role he also reprised in the tv film EastEnders: Ricky & Bianca in the same year. Since then he has also starred in programmes including 2003’s Clocking Off, Casualty, Shameless, The Street and Silent Witness.
However, Dean is best known for his role as outspoken DS Ray Carling, in the hit BBC television series Life on Mars. He starred in the time travelling crime programme, alongside actors John Simm and Philip Glennister, from 2006 to 2007 and reprised the role in the sequel Ashes to Ashes alongside Keeley Hawes, from 2008 to 2010.
