Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve figured out when villain Tom King, played by James Chase, will be making his exit from the Dales – and it’s sooner than you might think. The soap baddie has been causing a stir in the village for months now, with his abusive and manipulative behaviour towards wife Belle Dingle, portrayed by Eden Taylor-Draper.
Belle finally ended their marriage after seeing Tom’s true colours and even reported him to the police. But Tom hasn’t shown any signs of letting her go.
He’s gone to extreme lengths, including installing cameras in her home and software on her laptop to monitor her every move.
To make matters worse, the twisted character stooped to a new low when he seemed to kill her beloved dog Piper, leaving Belle heartbroken. In recent episodes, it was revealed that Tom is now dating Amelia, played by Daisy Campbell, which left Belle terrified for the young girl.
However, last week saw Belle confide in Charity, played by Emma Atkins, about the abuse she suffered at the hands of Tom. Emotions ran high as Charity relayed Belle’s harrowing experience to her brother Cain, played by Jeff Hordley, reports the Manchester Evening News.
With the truth about Tom’s crimes now out in the open, it seems his downfall is imminent. Adding fuel to the fire, reports emerged in July that actor James Chase had quit the ITV soap after a two-year stint.
An insider spilled to The Sun: “It’s the right time to leave. James has loved his time on the show playing such a powerful story but the truth is that characters like Tom have a shelf life for a reason. There’s no long-term redemption for Tom coming – he has to leave one way or the other.
Fans are now buzzing with theories about when Tom will make his exit from the village. Social media is abuzz with speculation that he could meet his end in a dramatic Christmas episode.
On X, previously known as Twitter, one fan speculated: “Definitely giving vibes that Belle is gonna kill Tom off Christmas. ” Another chimed in: “I can’t help thinking Belle is going to clout Tom around the head and be in prison for murder come Christmas.
“A third joined the conversation, writing: “Really hoping someone kills Tom off at Christmas. ” Echoing these sentiments, another viewer pondered: “He won’t leave her alone until he’s stopped so that will be why it goes on until Christmas!”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
