GMB’s Kate Garraway mortified by huge Eurovision blunder on-air as co-stars mock her

Kate Garraway was left red-faced after bungling an easy question about her good friend Sam Ryder during a Good Morning Britain quiz.

The ITV show welcomed radio star Ken Bruce on Friday (May 10) and he held a little Eurovision themed contest to mark the song contest’s final this weekend. However, Kate slipped up on her question about Sam and admitted she felt like “a buffoon” as she’s a huge fan.

She and co-host Adil Ray were asked about Sam’s 2022 Eurovision entry, and Kate was thrilled because she said she knew the answer. However, she then wrongly said the track was called Star Man, when it was actually named Space Man.

The TV star looked horrified when she realised her gaffe, exclaiming: “He’s a friend, as well, Sam Ryder!” “He was a friend,” she joked. “Oh my God! I love that song too!” she went on as Adil chuckled.

Good Morning Britain then cut across to TV star Christine Lampard who was hosting Lorraine, so that she could tease what she had coming up. Kate was still smarting from her error and told her fellow presenter: “I am just a buffoon!”

Christine tried to appease her at first as she replied: “No you are not.” But it seems she couldn’t resist a little dig as she then teased: “Although I did know the answer!”

“He is a superstar and he is friend!” she went on. “Kate, come on!” Looking embarrassed, Kate quipped: “She used to be a friend as well!”

Talk then turned to Ken’s Popmaster programme, with Kate joking that she probably wouldn’t be on it after her performance in the GMB contest. “I think I have just ruled myself out of ever being invited onto that haven’t I?” she asked. “Failed the audition,” teased Ken.

However, the radio DJ then reassured Kate that she might be able to redeem herself by getting some other questions right in the Eurovision quiz. But she didn’t look convinced about her chances and confessed that the Sam question may well have been her moment and that she’d missed it. “I doubt it, because that was the one I thought I knew!” she laughed.
