This Morning star turns down huge reality show offers saying ‘don’t want fans to hate me’

Gok Wan has rejected all reality TV offers – and here’s the reason why.

Fashion guru Gok, 49, has starred on This Morning for the past decade and fronted other programmes like Gok’s Fashion Fix and How To Look Good Naked. Along with cooking programmes and Great British Bake Off, Gok has a huge list of TV credits.

But he hasn’t appeared to have dipped his toe in reality TV pool – but it’s not without being offered to. Gok exclusively said: “I get asked to do all of them, you know, the strategies and the honest celebs and whatever.

“And I just don’t have the nerve. People think that I’m a different person than I actually am but I get really nervous. I actually get quite shy and insecure.

“I did Bake Off and I’ve done The Apprentice, but they’re kind of doing stuff shows, so I can get stuck in properly as I’m so competitive. Honestly, It’s awful!

“I’m the most competitive person you’ve ever met in your life. I like doing something where I can train really hard for it but then there are things that I know physically I just shouldn’t do like dance.

“So Strictly out of the question, I would annoy everyone in the Big Brother house, I know that they would hate me. They would hate me because I love cleanliness. I love everything to be in its own place. I love to cook, I’d be really bossy. And so that would never work and I wouldn’t want the nation to hate me.

“Then if I went on I’m A Celeb, I don’t like the outdoors. I don’t like dirt, I don’t like nature particularly and I don’t think pooing in a shed with a camera is a good thing for anyone. They would hate me also because apparently anyone that goes on to that programme and wants to cook every night, you’re then the worst person on the planet.”

They loved working together on the campaign

Gok exclusively spoke to us as he promoted JD Williams’ new midlife fashion campaign. Talking further about the project, Gok said: “I’ve been working with JD Williams this year, which has been a match made in heaven.

“They asked me to come on board for their midlife campaign, but midlife had a very positive way. When we often think about midlife, we think of midlife crisis, we go midlife terror. But actually, it’s not about that. It’s about embracing your experiences, the wisdom that you found over the years getting to know your body, getting to know your clothing, your style.”

JDWilliams.co.uk has partnered with TV personalities Judi Love, Gok Wan and Helen Skelton as part of a new campaign aimed at challenging misconceptions surrounding midlife women and celebrating their relevance, roles, and individuality. This collaboration introduces two distinct edits curated by fashion expert Gok, tailored specifically for Judi and Helen based on their unique styles, body shapes, and personalities. Each item of clothing is available online now in sizes 8 to 32.
