New details surrounding Rob Reiner’s death have been released. The actor and filmmaker, who was best known for his directing work on This Is Spinal Tap and When Harry Met Sally, was found dead with his wife Michele in their Los Angeles home.
Fox News’ Matt Finn took to X/Twitter to share a screenshot of the medical examiner’s report for Robert Reiner.
The page read: “Date of death: December 14 2025, Age: 78, Place of death: Residence, Manner: Homicide, Cause A: Multiple sharp force injuries, Cause B: [blank], Cause C: [blank], Cause D: Other significant conditions.”
Rob and Michelle’s son Nick has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
LA county district attorney Nathan Hochman said in a press released: “Rob Reiner was one of the greatest film-makers of his generation. His murder and his wife of more than 35 years Michele Singer Reiner’s murder are shocking and tragic.”
“We owe it to their memory to pursue justice and accountability for the lives that were taken. Prosecuting cases involving family violence are some of the most challenging and heart-wrenching we face because of the intimate and often brutal nature of the crimes.”

The news of the couple’s death shocked Hollywood and tributes from friends, family and famous peers flooded social media.
Former president Barack Obama issued a statement: “Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen, but beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people – and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action.”
