Hollywood ‘icon’ dead at 62 as bodybuilder’s death unclear after ‘trauma’ injury

A beloved comedy actress and bodybuilder has sadly died. Jayne Trcka, the bodybuilder turned actress best known for playing Miss Mann in Scary Movie, sadly passed away aged 62 in San Diego, California on December 12.

TMZ broke the tragic news. The cause of her death remains unknown according to the San Diego medical examiner, who confirmed her death.

Her son reportedly wasn’t aware of any health problems that might have led to his mother’s unexpected death. Jayne launched her career during the 1980s as a bodybuilder before transitioning into Hollywood, where she gained recognition for her performance in Scary Movie alongside major stars including Anna Faris, Regina Hall and the Wayans brothers, Marlon and Shawn.

She played Miss Mann, the girls’ PE teacher at B. A. Corpse High School. This marked her only role in the Scary Movie series, consisting of Scary Movie 2 (2001), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Scary Movie 4 (2006), Scary Movie 5 (2013), and an anticipated Scary Movie 6 scheduled for cinema release in June 2026, reports the Mirror.

The actress appeared in the comedy-horror film released in 2000

“There was trauma to the body, but we wouldn’t be able to indicate cause of death at this time,” a San Diego Medical Examiner spokesperson told The U.S. Sun.

Jayne went on to appear in television programmes including Whose Line is It Anyway? and The Drew Carey Show. She also featured in the 2010 music video for Beyoncé and Lady Gaga’s chart-topping track Telephone.

Aside from her fleeting stints in showbiz, Jayne was also recognised for her career as a property agent in California. As a bodybuilder, she was featured in fitness publications like Flex, MuscleMag International and Women’s Physique World.

Fans flooded social media with tributes

In 1997, at the age of 34, Jayne clinched the top position at the California State Championships. The next year saw her winning first place at the Junior Nationals, followed by another victory in 2004.

Fans of the actress and bodybuilder took to social media to share their condolences. “Remembering the strong Miss Mann, not just a role, but an inspiration in fitness and comedy,” one person wrote. Another said: “From Miss Mann to bodybuilding icon… her legacy lives on.”
