Dance Gavin Dance's Tim Feerick dies as bandmates pay tribute to 'friend'

Tim Feerick has died, the band Dance Gavin Dance have confirmed in an emotional statement.

The group who are currently on tour across the United States said they were “devastated” to confirm the tragic news.

Taking to Twitter, the band said: “We are absolutely devastated to share the news that our friend and bass player, Tim Feerick, passed away last night.

“We ask that you respect our privacy and that of Tim’s family while we deal with this heartbreaking and untimely loss.

“We will share further updates on Swanfest and our upcoming touring schedule as soon as we have them.”

Fans have taken to social media, paying tribute to the late star, with one saying: “Devastating news. DGD has become my number one favourite band since stumbling upon their music, always made me happy when things weren’t going well. My heart goes out to you guys & his family, rest easy Tim & thank you for making our lives dance the night away.”

“Jesus. This is so awful to hear. Gone too soon,” penned a second.

Before a third added: “I am so sorry for your loss, this is incredibly devastating and my heart goes out to you guys and the Feerick family.”

“Absolutely heartbroken to hear of Tim Feerick’s passing, he is one of the many people who inspired me to learn to play bass. my heart goes out to @DGDtheband, rest in peace, you will be forever remembered fondly in my eyes,” said a fourth.

“Tim was never a flashy individual on stage, but he had that presence about him that you couldn’t help but turn your attention to him on stage. A distinct sound that separated him from some of the best bassists to ever do it. A truly sad day for DGD fans around the world. RIP Tim,” tweeted another heartbroken music lover.

The rock group are currently on tour and is expected to perform for fans in the UK from September 8 before their final UK show on December 16 at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.

Over the course of their career, Dance Gavin Dance have landed several Top 20 albums on the official US charts, as well as three Number One records on the Indie and Rock charts.
