Dancing on Ice fans fume over ‘unfair’ rule change as Hannah’s sent home

Fans of Dancing on Ice were quick to highlight a major discrepancy during the latest instalment after Hannah Spearritt was sent home without a skate-off.

The popular ITV show was back for another entertaining episode on Sunday night (January 28) with presenters Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby at the helm. And with eleven celebrities taking to the ice there was all to play for.

Near the end of the programme, viewers found out who would be in the bottom two after receiving the least amount of votes from the public. Singer Hannah and Corrie actress Claire Sweeney landed themselves in the bottom after struggling to impress voting fans.

But although Claire and Hannah both received the fewest number of votes, viewers were left annoyed when presenters Holly and Stephen announced that one of the celebs would be leaving straight away and wouldn’t have a chance to redeem themselves in the head-to-head skate-off. Instead, the skate-off would return next week.

Hannah Spearritt was kicked off Dancing on Ice

Seeing the major change, fans rushed to X formerly known as Twitter to complain. One social media user said: “The way I was so shocked when #DancingOnIce ended abruptly, they just sent the S Club singing packing and called it a day no dance off.”

Another penned: “Think it’s a bit unfair how there was no skate off this week but its back next week? and why was the show so rushed?”

A third shared: “I’ve never seen anything more rushed in all my life. After all that – the show still managed to end 3 mins early. This is why DOI needs to be on for 2 hours – that way they can fit in a skate off.”

While another seemed to think it may have been a ploy and wrote: “Front loading the show with all the women the week when there’s no dance off? They’re doing everything to send one of ’em home without even having a chance.”

Despite the backlash, some liked the fact there was no skate-off with one person writing: “I don’t know why everyone is fizzing at the ‘no skate off’ thing on #dancingonice when they do this every year. And the right person went anyway!”

During the show, Hannah did receive the fewest amount of votes from the judges. Out of a possible 40, the S Club 7 star gained 20 points.

Before her departure, Hannah appeared to be understanding. She told Holly and Stephen: “I’ve really enjoyed it. And to be partnered with Andy has been fantastic. Thank you for the journey.”
