Si King has issued an urgent warning to fans following the death of Dave Myers.
The Hairy Bikers star sadly died last month aged 66 after battling cancer. Dave didn’t specify what type he had been diagnosed with when he opened up about his diagnosis in 2022.
Dave’s best pal Si confirmed his death online and told fans his “best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow.” The grieving star added: “I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.”

Now, it’s been revealed that vile scammers are using Si’s name to ask for donations for Dave’s family. On the official Hairy Bikers Facebook page, a post read: “Many of you have been emailing us pointing out that fake profiles are appearing on Facebook and Instagram, the latest one is of Si King.
“Our Team has been desperately trying to get Meta, the owners of Facebook and Instagram to remove these fake profiles for the past 2 weeks without success. Below is a screenshot of a fake page.
“You will notice that it doesn’t have a ‘Blue Tick’ next to the name ‘Si King’. There are instances where a ‘post’ has a link to a Bitcoin scam asking for donations to a cancer charity in the name of Dave Myers. Rest assured, this is not genuine in any shape or form.”
The post went on: “How you can help us, firstly, if you have fallen for the fake profile and currently 1,000 have, please unfollow this profile page as your information can be sold on. Secondly, please report the fake profile to Facebook.”
“This is done by clicking on the 3 dots, at the top-right of the offending page. This will open a dropdown box and from there you will see an option to ‘Find support or report’ Then select ‘ Pretending to be something’ then select ‘Celebrity’. Please type in ‘Hairy Bikers’ and you will see our page name appear in the box. Then please ‘Send’.”
The post concluded: “To add to the confusion, the people behind the scam are copying posts that we are genuinely uploading to our own page. If you all join in and report the fake, Facebook may wake up when they see some 600,000 reports in their inbox. #MarkZuckerberg take note We gratefully appreciate your help and kindness. Help us drop this. It’s not in the name of the Hairy Bikers. Shocking Meta’s lack of action.”
It comes as the final episode of the Hairy Bikers series aired this week. The much-loved duo was exploring lovely spots in the west of the UK for their programme ‘The Hairy Bikers Go West’. The show was filming even while Dave was having treatment for cancer.
On the last show, which was about their time in Devon and Dorset, Dave and Si talked about how special it was to work together during tough times. This turned out to be their final adventure together.
