BBC Breakfast fans fume ‘slow news day’ as they mock ‘boring’ segment

BBC Breakfast fans were underwhelmed about a cloud-watching, prompting some to quip “slow news day”.

Followers of the beloved morning show collectively registered the same complaint as they dismissed the “boring” segment. The BBC featured multiple individuals expressing their fascination with lounging around and gazing at the fluffy water vapour formations in the sky.

Those who find cloud watching therapeutic described it as “peaceful” and “relaxing”, providing an opportunity to take a brief pause from daily life and simply observe the world in motion. Many of those filmed agreed they’d appreciate more time dedicated to studying and understanding these large collections of water droplets floating in our planet’s atmosphere.

The clip rounded off and returned to the studio where presenters Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt were broadcasting from their usual spot, and of course, both had thoughts on the topic.

“Not something you can argue with, really,” Naga contributed. She furthermore asked viewers: “Perhaps you are keen cloud spotter, if so please send us your pictures via the usual methods. We’d love to see your pictures, the more speculator the better obviously,” reports the Mirror.

Charlie, who until this point had been uncharacteristically silent on the matter, added: “Or the ordinary ones as well, doesn’t really matter, does it? ” However, it seems the viewers didn’t resonate with the hosts’ sentiments.

Over on Twitter, the conversation was a bit more varied. One user wrote: “#SlowNewsDay at #BBCBreakfast as they bring the nation a story about clouds.” Another user was totally bewildered by the topic: “@BBCBreakfast please tell me what is the news angle in your ‘cloud’ segment? Surely there are things happening around the country and world that is news worthy, say in Palestine?”

Some fans did however enjoy the cloud segment despite many other complaints

A third chimed in humorously: “Thoughts with all the news presenters today… filling and killing time! @BBCBreakfast are currently 10mins into a segment on clouds!”. The same sentiment seemed to be shared by others, their tweets included: “Right next …..ffs #bbcbreakfast,” and “Yawn #BBCBreakfast.”

However, not everyone agreed with this standpoint; “Very much enjoyed your cloud spotting segment, @BBCBreakfast,” tweeted one person, with another echoing: “I love watching the clouds too #bbcbreakfast.”

BBC Breakfast airs at 6am on BBC One and can be streamed via iPlayer.
