Jeremy Clarkson hit by complaint over plan for ‘unsafe’ addition to farm

Jeremy Clarkson has come up with a cunning plan to keep nosy visitors away from his land.

The former Top Gear star is planning to line his farm’s boundary with beehives, which is next to a public footpath. Jeremy, 64, is reported to have positioned 11 beehives behind a five-foot hedge which is situated at the entrance of a lane that leads to his Cotswolds farm.

Vehicles cannot venture down the one-mile lane but the path is open for walkers. The decision to make the brash decision has sparked after his hit Amazon Prime show, Clarkson’s Farm, has led to people wanting to come have a snoot.

Jeremy, who is currently looking forward to becoming a grandad again later this year, has claimed that trespassers have become a bigger problem since the success of his farming series.

However, a local has shared their concerns over the beehives, arguing that they had been stung during a stroll with their dog near Clarkson’s property. They said they were left “sore for quite a few days”

They added: “I got stung a few weeks ago and don’t go up there anymore. He doesn’t want people looking at his house or going in there and that’s understandable.

“I understand that Jeremy doesn’t want fans walking onto his land to try and find him but it seems a bit dangerous to have so many beehives close to a public lane hidden behind a big hedge.”

However, Gerald Cooper, an elderly farmer who collaborates with Clarkson and Kaleb Cooper on Diddly Squat Farm, defended the placement of the hives. He told the publication that if people don’t want to be stung, they should avoid the lane.

Dismissing the complaints, he said: “It’s the summer, there are a lot of bees flying around and bee stings happen. What’s the fuss These bees are not dangerous, I don’t know what people are moaning about.”
