A new Netflix series released this month will chronicle the next adventure of the iconic character Lara Croft, and it will feature some famous voices.
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is the latest on-screen adaptation based on the video game franchise featuring the globetrotting heroine.
The story of the animated show picks up following the events of the most recent games trilogy, which rebooted the series and was originally released between 2013 and 2018.
Lara will continue to explore ancient mysteries and uncover lost truths across breathtaking and dangerous destinations.
A new voice will be taking on the role and there are some other recognisable tones for the series as well, here’s where you may recognise them from.
Lara Croft played by Hayley Atwell
While the new series following Lara Croft’s adventures follows on from what is known as the ‘survivor trilogy’ of games, the title role has been recast.
Players of those games will remember that Lara was originally voiced by Camilla Luddington but now Hayley Atwell will be taking on the role.
Atwell is instantly recognisable for Marvel fans, as she has played Agent Peggy Carter across multiple films and series, including the animated Disney+ show What If, which imagined her character taking the super soldier serum.
She has also featured in Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One and appears in the new season of Heartstopper on Netflix as Aunt Diane.
Jonah Maiava played by Earl Baylon
While Lara Croft has a new voice, Earl Baylon reprises his role as Jonah from game developer Crystal Dynamic’s Tomb Raider trilogy.
Jonah accompanied Lara on her early adventures and will return alongside her in the new series.
It’s not the only title gamers will recognise Baylon’s voice as the accomplished voice actor has also appeared in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and plays trade authority vendor Manaaki Almonte in Bethesda’s space epic Starfield.
Zip played by Allen Maldonado
Another Tomb Raider video game character making the jump to the latest screen adaptation is Zip.
Zip originally appeared in the Tomb Raider Chronicles game and a version of the character also featured in Legend and Underworld.
He is Lara’s right-hand man and tech expert who regularly works with her and will be played in the Netflix series by Allen Maldonado.
Maldonado is known as Curtis on Black-ish and appeared as Rooster Robbins in the series Heels.
Devereaux played by Richard Armitage
The villainous Devereaux is set to race Lara Croft to get his hands on an ancient relic that could plunge the world into complete chaos.
Voicing Deveraux will be Richard Armitage, known for many memorable roles including as Thorin in The Hobbit trilogy.
He’s also appeared in Harlen Coben adaptations for Netflix including The Stranger and Fool Me Once.
Recently, Armitage has received attention away from acting as he is now a published author and is working on a second novel.
Camilla Roth played by Zoe Boyle
Not much is known about Zoe Boyle’s character Camilla Roth set to appear in the series.
However, fans have noticed she shares a name with Roth, who appeared in the first game of the Survivor trilogy. Roth was a captain of the ship Croft travelled on and provided assistance in her first adventure.
Camilla is expected to be a relative of Roth, perhaps his daughter or even niece.
She will be voiced by Boyle, who has previously appeared in Downton Abbey as Lavinia Swire and alongside Bill Nighy in the film Living.
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is available to stream on Netflix from October 10
