The Traitors’ contestant makes history as the earliest banished as he admits ‘I had a plan’

The Traitors has reached a new milestone as tonight’s roundtable saw a traitor banished the earliest ever after a brutal discussion which saw the traitors turn on each other

Hugo Lodge has been sensationally caught on The Traitors.

The barrister was voted out after a brutal showdown with rivals including Harriet Tyce. It is the earliest a Traitor has been banished in show history. In his first interview, Hugo admitted he struggled to fake it. He said: “I think it was Mike Tyson who said, ‘Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face’.

“I did have a plan, but I didn’t really stick to it, and I kept forgetting to pretend to be a Faithful which is ultimately what you must do as a Traitor. I forgot that I had a shield, because nobody put a coffin in my grave, and I just forgot to act like a Faithful would.”

Hugo was banished after fellow Traitor Stephen Libby turned on him at the round table. But he insists there is no bad blood between them.

He said: “Traitors gonna Trait, Trait, Trait, Trait, Trait. You’ve just got to shake it off!

“I would have done the same thing to Stephen. It’s only a game, but he’s a dude and he was the best dressed Traitor. I think it’s important that everyone plays to win.”

Hugo is now backing Traitors Stephen and Rachel Duffy to take the prize money.

He said: “I do hope the Traitors go on to win, notwithstanding that Stephen stabbed me in the front!

“I think it’s about time the Traitors bounce back. So yes, they’ve got my unqualified support.”

In last night’s episode, Judy Wilson was banished at the roundtable and has since admitted she was useless on the show.

Her exit came after a string of gaffes that made her look like a liar. Judy said: “I was there playing the game the best I could. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good enough and I knew I was going down.

“I didn’t have a strategy. I just thought, ‘There’s no point in changing myself… I’m just going to play the game the best I can play it and enjoy it and have some fun’. That’s what I did.”

Despite being the first player to get banished, Judy has no regrets.

Asked if she wishes she’d done anything differently, she said: “I don’t think so. I enjoyed exactly what I did.

“I’ve had an amazing time. It’s been incredible and the friendships that we’ve built up is incredible. It’s a unique situation that we’ve all been in together and I’ve loved every minute of it.”

The series continues on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
