Jeff Hordley has revealed his Twitter account was hacked and he has been unable to regain access, not being active on the verified profile since April 23.
It means he’s not been able to see what viewers are saying in relation to his Emmerdale character Cain Dingle, and whether he should get back with estranged wife Moira, played by Natalie J Robb.
However despite the security nightmare, it seems Jeff, who is married to fellow Emmerdale star Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona Goskirk, is enjoying the social media break.
Speaking to Daily Star Online, the dad-of-two said: “I do sense that the audience would like to get them back together.
“I’ve pulled myself off social media so I don’t even see any of that that goes on, I don’t know what the audience are feeling at the moment.
“All I do is tell the story and tell it as best as I can.”
He explained: “Quite simply, somebody tried to hack into my account and I tried to log back in but I’ve had a problem logging back in.
“I’ve taken it to our IT department and we’ve not had any luck, so I just gave up on it in the end and enjoyed the not being on it, and that seems to be the end of it.”
Jeff added: “My account is still active but I’m not doing anything on it, it was a kind of happy accident, actually.”
Next week could be a major turning point with Cain and Moira’s relationship, as she receives her decree nisi in the mail.
However when Moira gets word of Cain’s revenge plan for Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln), she tries to talk him out of doing something he might regret.
It’s not long before her brother Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) locks the two of them in the Dingle barn and they’re forced to confront a few things.
Could Cain and Moira get back together finally, or will Cain make it clear she ruined their marriage and there’s no saving it?
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays, on ITV
