Liam Hemsworth sells Malibu home for half price after Miley Cyrus divorce

Liam Hemsworth has lost millions following his divorce from pop star Miley Cyrus.

The 30-year-old actor has sold his 7.4 acre Malibu estate that he shared with 28-year-old Miley for $3.6million (£2.6m) – almost half of what he bought it for in 2014.

The much lower price is due to the damage of the property which occurred in the Woolsey Fire that ravaged the area and the home in 2018, burning it almost to the ground.

The mystery buyer bought the two lots the former home stood on, a burned out concrete foundation, “an untouched pool, plus acres of semi-charred rolling hills”, according to US website Dirt.

Back in 2014, when Liam bought the property for $6.8m, the site notes said the land included “a long driveway that meandered over a gurgling creek, an updated 1950s ranch-style house, a recording studio, detached writing studio, concrete barn, and a big grassy lawn”.

It seems Liam never rebuilt his house, although records show some permits for new construction were obtained within the last two years.

The property is nestled deep into the rolling Malibu hills in California within a private gated community where other homeowners include actress Megan Fox.

Miley loved the home so much that she wrote her song Malibu about it and bought the smaller house next door – which somehow survived the fire and which she still owns.

Liam has since returned to his native Australia and now lives outside Sydney in Byron Bay.

The Hunger Games star is now in a relationship with Australian model Gabriella Brooks.

In September, Us Weekly reported that their romance was going from strength-to-strength, with a source telling them: “Liam and Gabriella are going strong and have been quarantining together and enjoying their time in Byron Bay.

“Liam has some movie projects coming up and is happy to be living in Australia and being able to spend his downtime with Gabriella.”

The insider added: “They’re both secure in their relationship and Gabriella isn’t worried that Liam has any lingering feelings for Miley and isn’t intimidated by their relationship.

“Liam and Gabriella are really close and feel comfortable with one another. They connect over important topics and share the same values about family and life.”

It wasn’t just Liam and Miley’s homes which were affected by the Woolsey Fire, as the likes of Gerard Butler and Robin Thicke also suffered damage.
