Neighbours may be about to take a short break over the Christmas period, but it will be back with a bang in the new year.
The show will be airing its last episode of the year on Wednesday December 23, and will be back on screens on January 24.
When it returns, viewers will be waiting to find out if Shane and Dipi Rebecchi will be getting back together, if Nicolette Stone’s surrogacy for Aaron Brennan and David Tanaka will go to plan, and whether there will be plenty of love triangles.
As viewers wait for the new year to bring the drama, here are Daily Star’s predictions for what is going to rock Erinsborough in 2021…
Jay’s big secret
Neighbours newcomer Jay Rebecchi has certainly ruffled some feathers since his arrival in Erinsborough earlier this month.
Although he had been referenced to by his parents Shane and Dipi, he had never been shown, until his surprise arrival amidst his parents’ split.
But while Dipi and Shane are distracted by their crumbling marriage, Jay looks like he is hiding a huge secret.
Speaking to Daily Star, Nicholas Coghlan, who plays Shane, teased that his on-screen son Jay isn’t who he says he is.
He said: “He is going to be unexpected in a lot of ways.
“There is a lot of unexpected twists, and who he really is is going to be an unexpected thing for people.
“But it’s a show and some people aren’t really who they seem.”
Is Jay not really who he says is, and what is he hiding? Looks like fans will have to wait to find out…
David and Aaron baby heartbreak
David Tanaka and Aaron Brennan look set for baby heartbreak after Nicolette Stone has agreed to be their surrogate.
Viewers are sure that shady Nicolette is not to be trusted after her lottery secret and dodgy past was revealed earlier this year.
But as Nicolette discovers she is pregnant, does she have a sick plan up her sleeve, ending David and Aaron’s dreams of having a baby?
Charlotte Chimes, who plays Nicolette, teased to Daily Star: “My hope for Nicolette is that she does go full term and co-parent with David and Aaron.
“She can live in Ramsay Street with her mum and her baby and David and Aaron.
“But come on, it is Neighbours, it is not happening!”
Is Nicolette going to end up losing the baby, or is she planning to take it for her own?
Shane and Dipi reunion
Shane and Dipi hit a rocky point in their marriage this year when a devastated Dipi started an affair with Pierce Greyson after discovering Shane had a drug problem.
Things were revealed to Shane and Chloe Brennan by a meddling Nicolette Stone, and he was left heartbroken by the discovery.
Dipi then broke his heart once again as she made it clear she wanted to end their marriage and be with Pierce, only to be rejected by the businessman.
It is yet to be revealed whether the pair will be able to work out their differences and get back together, but actor Nicholas Coghlan made it clear that that is all Shane wants.
He told Daily Star: “For Shane, there is nothing really to forgive.
“Shane is a pretty simple guy, and he thinks marriage is two people being together forever, and accepting things about each other.”
But will Dipi want to get back with him?
Toadie in danger?
Toadie has had an unlucky time in love over the last few years, after losing his wife Sonya to cancer and saying goodbye to his first wife Dee Bliss.
But Nicolette is left panicking when she realises he is embarking on a blossoming romance with her old colleague Audrey.
No one else in Erinsborough is aware that they stole a $100,000 scratch card off a dead patient while working in a care home… yet.
But as Nicolette tries her best to get Audrey away from Toadie, could the former pal be hiding a secret up her sleeve?
Charlotte Chimes told Daily Star: “Audrey turns up and spells trouble.
“Nicolette is furious with her, everything was going really well for her.
“But unfortunately Audrey is one of those people you meet and think why are they so nice, what are they hiding?
“And then you think they’re hiding nothing, they’re just genuinely nice.”
Has Toadie found the right person finally, or is there more to Audrey than meets the eye?
Love dramas
Roxy Willis and Kyle Canning have had a very tumultuous relationship since she arrived in Erinsborough last year.
Whilst the pair have finally settled down into a happy romance, things are thrown off kilter when he goes to Germany to be with his dog Bossy, who is about to die.
Roxy panics as she knows his ex Georgia is there, and worries that they could rekindle their romance while he is away.
She then starts to ponder her jealousy as she realises just how many relationships she has been in, but will she be able to get over it?
Or will their long distance romance hit the rocks?
Meanwhile, Levi Canning and Bea Nilsson look like they’ll have more luck in love than Kyle and Roxy next year.
As Bea discovers that Levi has been harbouring secret feelings for her, she has to decide whether she wants to be with him or his childhood attacker Nathan.
It looks certain that she will choose Levi, but viewers will have to wait and see whether they make a good match in the new year.
Sheila heartbreak leads to exit?
Sheila Canning is desperate to reunite with her ex Clive Gibbons at the end of this year after their split.
Her hopes are raised when he shows her some kindness and tells her not to beat herself up about Levi’s attack as a child, which she was responsible for.
But it looks like Sheila is set for heartbreak as Jane Harris is also interested in him, and it looks like Clive likes her back.
As the Neighbours holiday video showed a snippet of Jane and Clive sharing a kiss, could Sheila be about to have her heartbroken again?
Viewers will have to wait and see who Clive decides to be with, but it looks like his romance with Jane is going from strength to strength.
After a devastating year, which saw her lose her son Gary and be estranged from her family, could Sheila decide it is time for a fresh start?
