Stacey Solomon hits back at 'parent shamers' who made cruel comments about Rex

Stacey Solomon is famed for her open and humorous approach to parenting, sharing the behind-the-scenes of her busy life with Joe Swash and their four sons.

However, the Loose Women panellist, 31, made it clear she had no time for “parent shaming” this week, when she received a few critical messages via Instagram.

Hitting out at “parent-shamers,” Stacey explained she wasn’t interested in hearing any criticism of her parenting techniques, offering her fans a few words of wisdom.

She wrote: “But just a little note to say… indirectly shaming a parent in any way, is just the worst.

“Making them wonder if them or their child is ‘normal’ is just cruel. EVERY child is different I have three, NONE the same.

“So they are who they are and all parents are just doing their absolute best to love them unconditionally and that is ALL.”

Stacey welcomed her son Rex, one, with long-term beau Joe last year.

The X Factor star is already proud mum to 12-year-old Zachary and eight-year-old Leighton from previous relationships, while Joe has a son, Harry, 13, from his former engagement to Emma Sophocleous.

In the post, Stacey admitted she’d received a number of DMs claiming she didn’t share the “reality” of parenting a toddler on the platform.

She reposted the message, which read: “You always upload videos of son Rex smiling and laughing! Why do you never show the reality of what it’s really like having a toddler?”

Stacey shared a long statement in response, first pointing out her son was naturally upbeat, before advising her followers against “shaming” fellow mums.

She said: “I get messages like this quite often but I’ve seen a few today for some reason…

“He’s just a smiley boy. It’s just who he is. We’ve done nothing special. WE haven’t sent him to smiley classes or anything.”

The ITV star pointed out Rex “rarely cries,” adding: “When he does, the last thing I’m going to do is get my phone out and take a picture of [sic] video.

“But genuinely, when I look at him or talk to him or do anything if I’m honest he just cracks up laughing.”

She finished: “And we love him for it and are extremely grateful. He has an enthusiasm for life that we can’t get enough of and we can’t take the credit, he was born like it.”
