The Chase beauty wows ITV viewers as she beats The Beast in £40,000 showdown

The Chase viewers were delighted on Wednesday afternoon as contestant Steph managed to beat The Beast in her head-to-head round.

The player only managed to score £1,000 in her cash builder round but decided to take a gamble and opted to take the high offer and play against Mark Labbett for a whopping £40,000.

The Beast and host Bradley Walsh congratulated Steph for stepping out of her comfort zone and the risk certainly paid off.

Steph answered a series of multiple choice questions correctly and managed to make it home and dry with the £40,000 in hand.

Viewers at home rushed to their keyboards to praise Steph on getting through to the final chase.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Steph, I absolutely love that.”

Another added: “Gotta give props to Steph, a thousand in the cash builder but went for the big money and got it.”

A third person posted: “Big fan of Sexy Steph on The Chase.”

While a fourth viewer wrote: “Go on Steph! Howler of a cash builder then nailed the beast for 40k when no one thought she could… including me.”

Earlier in the show, Roy and Jan were both caught by The Beast so there was plenty of pressure on Steph to bring in some money.

Contestant number two Jan got off to a great start and scored a sound £6,000 in the cash builder round.

However, things didn’t go quite to plan for the player as she didn’t manage to answer a single question correctly in the head-to-head round.

Jan admitted that she’d never heard of the word onomatopoeia despite previously telling host Bradley that she home schooled her children.

Viewers at home were left scratching their heads as the contestant made the admission on the show.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “How can she not know onomatopoeia? I was taught that at Year 6 FFS!”

Another added: “She home schooled her children and didn’t know what onomatopoeia is….”

A third person posted: “And she home schooled her kids??? They are doomed.”

Contestant number four Zaki also made it though to the final round with £7,000, making the grand total £47,000.

However, it was another day in the office for The Beast and Steph and Zaki went home empty-handed after the tense final round.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
