Adam Woodyatt's wife 'devastated he left family home without explanation'

Adam Woodyatt’s wife Beverley Sharp is said to have been ‘left devastated’ after the EastEnders star ‘walked out on her’ last year.

A spokesperson confirmed earlier this week that the Ian Beale actor, 52, separated from Bev after the pair’s 22 year marriage.

While his camp revealed the speculation around the marriage ended was true, they stressed there’s no third party involved in the end of their relationship.

However, according to reports, Bev is not convinced.

A friend reportedly told The Sun on Sunday: “Bev has kept a dignified silence for the sake of the children but this isn’t the amicable split that’s being portrayed.

“Adam walked out on Bev nearly a year ago without explanation. She didn’t even know where he’d gone.

“She’s only seen Adam once since he left and she’s no idea why he walked out on her. He’s shown her no respect at all.”

They added: “The media briefings all seem to be about protecting Adam’s reputation and that of EastEnders. Bev’s obviously hugely upset about the way she’s been treated.”

Daily Star Online has contacted the BBC for comment.

Adam is Eastenders’ longest-serving star after appearing in the first episode in 1985.

He has been married to Beverley since 1998, and they have two grown-up children together.

Adam has reportedly been staying away from the family home for several months.

He apparently made the decision to leave the relationship, and sources insist no one else was involved.

Another source told The Sun: “Beverley was naturally very upset, as anybody would be in the circumstances, but these things happen and it’s a straightforward separation.

“Nobody plans for these things and divorce is a difficult thing to get your head around but they have dealt with it quietly for several months and are now telling friends so it’s less of a secret.

“They still get on well, and are keen to make sure they stay that way for the sake of their children – even though they are now grown up.”
