Cancer survivor Carol McGiffin has urged Sarah Harding to “stay strong” after the singer’s shock diagnosis.
The Girls Aloud star, 38, last week revealed she is battling breast cancer, adding that it has spread to other parts of her body.
Loose Women presenter Carol, 60, fought her own year-long battle with the deadly disease in 2014.
She said: “It’s a very personal thing, everybody deals with it in their own way but it’s extremely difficult when you see a diagnosis like that, especially because she’s only 38.
“I was 54, but 38 is so young and hers had already spread so it’s a double blow for her.” She added: “I can’t give advice about this but she’s got to try and stay strong and get through this. It’s terrible news and I just hope to God that she’s all right.”

The star said she is currently undergoing chemotherapy sessions as “fighting as hard as I possibly can.”
Addressing her 126,000 followers, she wrote: Hi everyone, I hope you are all keeping safe and well during these uncertain times.
“I’ve not posted on here for so long, thank you to everyone who has reached out to check in on me, it really does mean a lot.
“I feel now is the right time to share what’s been going on. There’s no easy way to say this and actually it doesn’t even feel real writing this, but here goes.”

She continued: “Earlier this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and a couple of weeks ago I received the devastating news that the cancer has advanced to other parts of my body.
“I am doing my very best to keep positive and will keep you updated here with how I’m getting on. In the meantime I hope you’ll all understand and respect my request for privacy during this difficult time.
Sending you all so much love….xx”
