Coronation Street's Pat Phelan 'returns from dead' in horror ghost twist

Coronation Street viewers are set for a return of Pat Phelan next week, when Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) worries the dead murderer is haunting the attic at No11.

Phelan died after a murder spree and Mary begins to think the noises in the attic are coming from the killer’s ghost.

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that a terrified Mary gets the help of vicar Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) to perform an exorcism.

But when Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) suddenly appears at the top of the stairs, the duo are left with their jaws on the floor.

The reunion between the ex lovers Todd and Billy turns sour, as Billy rages at him for abandoning Summer and letting her think he was dead.

Soon, Billy’s current flame Paul (Peter Ash) heads over and Todd uses the moment to cause some trouble between the couple.

Billy tries to assure Paul that he loves him with all of his heart, that he’s completely rid off Todd and that the returning character is bad news.

Later, Todd heads out with a spring in his step, despite his mum Eileen’s (Sue Cleaver) warning that a lot of people wouldn’t be pleased to see him back.

Meanwhile, Billy confides in Paul that he’s worried about taking the archdeacon position, leading to Paul having some concerns of his own.

He’s left worried that Billy is really changing his mind because Todd is back on the scene.

Todd takes great pleasure in winding Paul up and Billy asks him to stop.

It’s not long before Todd admits he still has feelings for Billy, but how will the holy man react?

Todd reminds him how good they were together and suggests Billy doesn’t really want to be with Paul.

But Billy refuses to be swayed, though it’s clear something is amiss as his eyes fill with tears.

Todd offers an empty apology to Paul but soon puts his foot in it again by saying how Billy told him he’s had a tough time.

Billy reassures Paul he didn’t say a thing about Kel.

How will Todd take Billy’s rejection, and will Billy stick to his guns?

Meanwhile, Eileen has her own trouble after using the Streetcars number to call Mick and threaten him, when soon affair accusations between Mick and Tim are thrown around by Mick’s husband Erik.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
