Kate Garraway shared her heartache on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain as she can’t visit husband Derek Draper in hospital for their wedding anniversary.
The 53-year-old television star hosted the first half an hour of today’s programme before Susanna Reid and Adil Ray came on air.
She told viewers and the presenters that today marked 15 years since her and Derek tied the knot, but she couldn’t see him in hospital as he continues to recover from the aftermath of coronavirus.
Kate said: “It’s actually Derek and I’s wedding anniversary today, unbelievably. 15 years today, Richard and I think Hilary were there on the day weren’t you both.

“Yeah, what an extraordinary thing. I won’t be able to see him today, I kind of hoped I would, but it hasn’t worked out that way for the visit, but maybe it would be a bit strange anyway.”
The I’m a Celebrity…. Get Me Out of Here! star continued: “It’s a tough day, but he’s still here.
“There’s not a huge amount that’s changed it’s very strange, when I haven’t seen you [Susanna] for ages and Adil I haven’t seen you for a couple of weeks either, and so much happens in that couple of weeks.”

She added: “There’s so many, sort of, seeming positives and then plungings, but actually when I see people again it’s just the same, but you have to think well at least he’s here with you.
“You have a flicker and then a bad day, but just got to keep going really.”
Kate’s husband Derek fell ill with coronavirus and was left fighting for his life during lockdown.

He was taken to hospital on March 29 where he was put into a medically induced coma.
Whilst Derek has now been taken out of the coma, he is lying in a minimum state of consciousness, meaning he can’t walk or talk.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
