Maurice Roëves, best known for appearing in Doctor Who, has died aged 83.
His death was confirmed by his agents Lovett Logan earlier today.
The said in a statement on Twitter: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of our wonderful client Maurice Roeves.
“We will miss him hugely and all our love goes to Vanessa and family.”

Born in Sunderland, but brought up in Scotland, the actor appeared in numerous films, TV series, and theatre productions during his illustrious career which spanned six decades.
His first television roles saw him appear in 1975’s The Sweeney, Danger UXB, The Nightmare Man and in the 1984 Doctor Who serial, The Caves of Androzani.
Roëves went on to play ageing heart-throb Vincent Diver in Tutti Frutti – aired in 1987 – alongside Robbie Coltrane, Emma Thompson and Richard Wilson.
The TV series won six BAFTAs and brought many of the cast to national prominence.

He also starred in River City, The Eagle Has Landed, EastEnders and most recently in BBC drama The Nest, which aired earlier this year.
His film roles included Ulysses, Oh! What a Lovely War, A Day at the Beach, The Eagle Has Landed, Hidden Agenda, a major role as Colonel Munro in the 1992 version of The Last of the Mohicans, Judge Dredd film, The Acid House and Beautiful Creatures.
Since news of Roëves surfaced, tributes have poured in for the actor on Twitter.

Director Paul Carmichael wrote: “Maurice Roëves has died. An incredibly powerful actor. Last time I saw him he was on River City.
“I met him once, outside a hotel in London. One of the nicest people I’ve ever chatted to. RIP.”
One user put: “Maurice Roëves was one of the jobbing actors of my generation who played tough guys with dignity and aplomb. Condolences to his family and friends,” and another added: “Sad to hear of the death of Maurice Roëves. He was a charming man with roles in Doctor Who and Tutti Frutti, of which he was very proud. He was 83 and lived his life well.”
He is survived by his wife Vanessa.
