June Brown can no longer watch EastEnders, despite appearing on the BBC One soap opera for 35 years.
The actress, who played Dot Cotton, revealed that her failing eyesight means she is unable to tune in.
June, 93, is unable to see a television clearly due to macular degeneration, a medical condition which causes blurred or no vision.
Instead, the iconic actress spends her days reading on her Amazon Kindle, but admits she still struggles to make out the words.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, June shared the heartbreaking news but insisted that she “still has her mind” and will continue to work.
“I haven’t been watching it [ EastEnders ] as I find it difficult to see the television very clearly.

“If your sight is poor, there’s very little you can do. I read my Kindle instead.
“I can see where everything is around the house but nothing’s clear.”
June underwent eye surgery in 2017 but her vision has since rapidly deteriorated.

Earlier this year, the fan favourite revealed she would not be returning to Walford, despite bosses insisting that the door is always open for her.
Dot waved goodbye to her beloved home and fled to Ireland after her granddaughter Sonia stole a substantial amount of cash from her.
June likened her exit from the soap to “almost as if [she’s] been bereaved”.

Speaking about the door always being open, June said: “I don’t want a retainer for EastEnders, I’ve left. I’ve left for good.
“I’ve sent her off to Ireland where she’ll stay. I’ve left EastEnders. I did make up a limerick. It’s a bit dirty.”
Chatting about her time on the Square, June told the Mirror: “I enjoyed myself enormously for the years that I was in it.
“I used to leave occasionally for other work because I don’t think it’s good to do the same thing.”
She later joked: “At least people will know that I am not retired!”
