Gary Lineker reignites Piers Morgan feud as he brags he'd 'beat him in fight'

Gary Lineker has spectacularly reignited his feud with Piers Morgan, hinting that things could turn physical.

The 59-year-old former footballer has a long-running rivalry with the Good Morning Britain star, though the two appeared to bury the hatchet earlier this year.

However, digging up the past in a recent interview with The Sun, Gary insisted he could take Piers, 55, in a fight.

He said: “I’m not a very good fighter but I’d definitely have him.”

While Piers has yet to respond to the comment, he is never one to hold back when it comes to defending his honour.

Piers appeared to put their feud to bed back in April when he publicly congratulated the Walkers ambassador on making a donation to the British Red Cross, assisting their fight against coronavirus.

Hinting that tensions remained, Gary later made fun of Piers after he was unfollowed by President Donald Trump on Twitter.

Piers wrote a piece in Daily Mail condemning the US president’s leadership during the coronavirus pandemic, spurring an instant “unfollow” from Trump.

Poking fun at Piers, Gary said: “I know it’s probably too soon. I know you thought he was a friend. I know your heart is breaking. I know how hurt you feel now. I know hard this is for you, but I know you will get through it.

“I know you won’t want to hear this: but you know you’ll be a better man without him.”

Piers has previously mocked Gary’s paycheck, hinting he earns a far heftier salary, as he tweeted: “I don’t pretend not to be in the elite… and it’s not my fault I earn far more than you, it’s my talent.”

Usually taking their spats to Twitter, Piers and Gary have argued over a whole host of subjects, from the nitty-gritty of Brexit to football.

The duo has a long-running history of jibes, with Gary openly volunteering to punch Piers during an interview with Lad Bible last year.

He was asked: “If you had to punch one famous person, who would you punch?”

Without a hitch, the Match of the Day star answered: “Piers Morgan. I’d electrocute him as well, probably.”
