Rock singer and musician Gene Simmons gave an emotional tribute to Eddie Van Halen on Good Morning Britain today after the news of his death was announced on Tuesday (October 6).
Eddie, the co-founder of rock legends Van Halen, died aged 65 after a long battle with throat cancer.
The rock star died at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica, US Tuesday, TMZ reported.
Talking about the sad news to GMB presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Kiss bassist and co-lead singer Gene, 71, said “Life isn’t fair.”
Discussing Eddie, Gene said: “He was a kind, beautiful soul. He was a monster talent and it’s so sad it was taken away at such a young age.

“He didn’t care about fame or have an ego. I wouldn’t be fit to shine Eddie’s shoes.
“He changed the world and didn’t have a bad word to say about anybody.”
Piers replied: “I thought he was utterly charming, you could feel his passion for the music.”
According to sources, Eddie’s his wife Janie was by his side, as well as his son Wolfgang and Alex, his brother and drummer.

It is believed that Eddie’s health went into huge decline rapidly.
Doctors are said to have made the shocking discovery that his throat cancer had moved to his brain.
Eddie has battled cancer for the last decade and has been in an out of hospital for the past year.
Announcing his father’s death on Twitter on Tuesday, his devastated son Wolfgang revealed said: “I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.
“He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.
“My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever full recover from this loss.
“I love you so much, Pop.”
