Glastonbury Festival won't confirm if this year's show will go on amid coronavirus fears

Glastonbury Festival organisers have responded to concerned 2020 ticket holders about whether the show will go on amid coronavirus fears.

Organisers addressing concerns comes after chief medical officer Chris Witty issued a stark warning that the coronavirus means “reducing mass gatherings” may need to be a consideration.

Adrian Coombs, Glastonbury Festival’s Head of Operations, told Somerset Live: “Glastonbury Festival thoroughly plans each year’s event, and puts in place all necessary measures to protect the public and maximise safety.

“We work closely with all of the relevant agencies, including Public Health England and the NHS, and always review our plans as any circumstances change.”

This year’s roster for the 50th anniversary festival boats an impressive line-up of acts including Lana Del Rey, Sir Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift and Diana Ross.

There has been a number of musicians who have cancelled gigs so far over fears surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.

“I promise I’ll be back.”

The affected shows are in South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and China.
