GMB turns awkward as furious guests slam Dr Sarah in fiery Covid lockdown clash

Good Morning Britain got fiery today as Dr Sarah Jarvis was given a dressing down by pensioner Maureen, who went viral from a TV interview, and her husband Mike.

The pair discussed their thoughts on coronavirus, as Maureen and Mike said that they were still going out everyday as they didn’t want to spend the rest of their lives trapped inside.

They also claimed that the government shouldn’t listen to scientists about how to deal with coronavirus, as Maureen moaned about the doom and gloom that had been caused.

Despite South Yorkshire being in a Tier 3 lockdown, Maureen claimed she “doesn’t give a s*d” about the measures imposed on her, and will still be living her life as normal.

She said: “I’m not going to stay at home. I’m too old.

Maureen made her feelings very clear on GMB today

“We’re having these lockdowns, wake up, lockdown. How many of these can we afford?

“The people who are going to suffer the most are our young ones, all the unemployed and all the businesses who are going out of business because of this lockdown.”

However, things turned awkward when Dr Sarah Jarvis came on the show to give some advice, as Mike told her: “You’re guessing because you don’t know, you’re inexperienced.”

Things turned awkward as Mike branded Dr Sarah ‘inexperienced’

Mike then claimed he had been through six pandemics and was therefore more experienced than her, as the interview turned very frosty.

As Mike ranted on, his wife Maureen was then seen elbowing him in the chest to get him to stop talking on air.

Dr Sarah hit back: “I know your husband has said he’s lived through six pandemics.

“Unless you’re both over 101, you’ve never been through one like this because there’s never been one like this which has killed as many people.

Maureen and Mike divided fans after the controversial interview

“When you say let’s protect the vulnerable people, I know you’re just like my great aunt Mabel, who thought the youngsters were a bit wet and it was her who needed to keep things going.

“No one is saying shut down, no one is saying close your doors, we want you to go out and get some fresh air, it should be safer for you now.”

Fans rushed to social media to comment on the awkward interview, as one said: “”If these were young people you would be calling them out! The husband was so rude to the doctor. Couple of selfish people who just because of their age are being applauded!”

Another added: “You’re having a laugh, right? She said she was wandering about town when she should have been isolating! Disgraceful woman- age does not equate to wisdom. Please don’t let her on again.”

A third chipped in: “Bit disgusted at you all laughing and giggling at the most sensible couple I’ve heard on tv in a long time. Your ‘scientist/expert’ was disgracefully condescending. She doesnt have a clue what that couple have seen or been through – unbelievable.”

GMB continues on Monday at 6am on ITV.
