Jamie Foxx has defended Jimmy Fallon after a resurfaced Saturday Night Live clip from two decades ago featured the US talk show host impersonating Chris Rock in blackface.
Fallon apologised for the skit on social media, explaining “it was a terrible decision” after the video started circulating online.
However, the actor shared his thoughts on the matter, stating the TV presenter had nothing to say sorry for.
“Bro you ain’t got to apologize for s**t,” the Django Unchained star wrote in Fallon’s comment section in a social media post.

“You are a comedian and a great one at that.
“You did an incredible impersonation of Chris Rock… it was not blackface… we did a show called in living color where we did characters from every race… You are all the way good… keep doing you my friend! You are necessary!”
He later followed up his original comment by vocalising his feelings about Jimmy’s routine – and told fans to leave the father-of-two alone.

“Some of y’all didn’t even see the sketch… relax and laugh,” he added.
“It’s Other muuuuphuckas out here that really don’t care bout ya… use that energy for them!!! But leave my man alone.”
Twitter users were calling for Fallon to be “cancelled” earlier this week, and the hashtag “Jimmy Fallon is Over Party” started trending on social media.
One wrote: “Everyday it’s someone new being cancelled, but… I think this time it’s deserved. Blackface is horrible, unfunny and incredibly racist. I wonder what he has to say about this.”
While another wrote: “I’m a little hurt because I LOVE watching Jimmy Fallon. Like we can’t trust anybody. Like blackface really?”
Following the backlash, Jimmy apologised for his actions, admitting he regrets his “unquestionably offensive decision”.
He wrote: “In 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this.
“I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.”
