Joan Collins auctions off lunch date to raise cash for NHS fighting coronavirus

Dame Joan Collins is auctioning off a lunch date at the swanky London hotel, Claridges, while Jools Holland is set to treat lucky fans to backstage drinks.

Celebrities and television companies are coming together in order to raise funds which will allow the NHS to fight the deadly coronavirus which continues to plague the globe.

Bonhams are conducting a not-for-profit digital auction with pledges from some of the country’s leading actors, musicians and artists.

Organisers have said that funds raised will go towards the NHS Charities Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.

The prizes up for grabs include lunch at Claridge’s with Dame Joan, 86, her husband Percy Gibson and actor Christopher Biggins.

Holland will invite a lucky fan for drinks behind the scenes at one of his shows, while artworks by Anish Kapoor, Julian Opie, and The Connor Brothers are also up for grabs, along with a visit to Grayson Perry’s studio.

Veteran TV presenter Jeremy Paxman is offering two lucky families the chance to have a round of University Challenge.

There is also an “ultimate” Call The Midwife experience up for grabs, with up to four people visiting the set of the BBC hit drama before going through hair and makeup and landing a walk-on role.

They will then be treated to lunch or tea with the cast including Cliff Parisi and Strictly Come Dancing’s Helen George.

Managing Director for Bonhams Patrick Masson said: “The NHS staff and volunteers are heroes to us all.

“We at Bonhams are honoured to host this initiative and to donate the skills we have at our auction house to support those who are working so hard for us on the front line.”

The auction will run for three weeks and launches today.
