Molly-Mae Hague cries as she discusses dog death's following backlash

Molly-Mae Hague broke down in tears as she opened up about her puppy Mr Chai’s passing – hours after she announced his death on Wednesday morning.

Boyfriend Tommy Fury bought the pooch for the social media influencer’s 21st birthday, and imported the dog from Russia less than a week ago.

Love Island star Molly-Mae excitedly revealed her furry four-legged friend on social media over the weekend, however, was left in anguish after Mr Chai died only five days later.

Following the announcement of the dog’s passing, the couple received a wave of backlash on social media, accusing the pair of only purchasing the animal for social media likes.

“People that are saying we bought him for Instagram likes, please stop saying that,” Molly-Mae said.

“Our lives are on social media, my full-time job is to show you guys what I’m doing. If I didn’t have Instagram, he wouldn’t be on Instagram.

The Love Island star shot down claims surrounding Mr Chai’s transit from Russia being the reason behind his death.

She said: “We’re not asking for any kind of sympathy. What’s happened is awful. I’m asking you to understand that the dog travelling from Russia is not the reason he died.”

“I can’t even explain how happy we were when we got him. He was absolutely everything. He was just perfect. We just had our little baby – it was like we’d had a baby.

Molly-Mae revealed they took the pooch to the vet after two days because they could tell something wasn’t right.

She explained: “For the first two days he was absolutely fine. From two days in, we started to pick up on a few things so we took him to the vet.

“I could tell something wasn’t right.”

“The vet rang up and said Chai had a seizure and he died. Tommy literally threw up everywhere. I was like: ‘It’s a prank’ and she was like: ‘No, your dog has died.'”

Molly-Mae also explained the puppy had undergone all the correct medical vaccinations, explaining: “Chai had every single one – we have the paperwork. He was four and a half months old.”

The couple explained they received an autopsy from the vet who explained that the cause of death was because “the dog’s skull wasn’t formed properly”.

“It wasn’t fully developed – part of his brain was exposed,” she concluded.
