One Direction's Niall Horan joins Black Lives Matter protest after rant at Trump

Niall Horan was photographed today joining thousands of protesters at the Black Lives Matter demonstrations in London.

The 26-year-old singer, who first found fame as a member of One Direction, has been sharing his support on social media for the powerful anti-racism movement.

He has been attending the protests in London over the weekend as well as spreading the campaign’s important message on his Twitter feed.

Thousands have gathered across the UK and globally over the weekend to demonstrate over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis white police officer, who pressed his knee into his neck for eight minutes despite him repeatedly stating “I can’t breathe”.

Niall, 26, has shared posts on his Instagram page of the poignant London protests, with the singer sharing a video while attending the anti-racism rally.

The Black and White singer has been vocal in his support for the movement and told his fans why he was joining the protests.

He tweeted: “Let’s protest safely people. look out for each other. It’s time to really educate the younger generations that there should not be hatred based on the colour of the next persons skin.

“Only love. I go to bed tonight thinking of all my friends in America and hope they are safe.”

Niall recently raged at US President Donald Trump after he branded protestors “thugs” in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death.

Donald Trump’s tweet read: “These THUGS are dishonouring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

Fuming at Donald Trump’s words, the Slow Hand’s hitmaker took to his platform to share his rage.

He angrily responded to Trump’s post in a tweet to his 39.5m followers, saying: “THUGS? These people are protesting against the fact that one of YOUR animalistic white policemen kneeled on George’s windpipe and forced him to stop breathing and killed him?

“THUGS???? Are you listening to yourself?”
