England legend Paul Gascoigne says Piers Morgan is to blame after burglars stole £140,000 of jewellery from his flat.
Tearful Gazza revealed the raiders struck after Piers posted a picture of him on Twitter sitting in the audience for the presenter’s Life Stories show.
Knowing he was not home, they ransacked his luxury apartment before stealing a £40,000 diamond-encrusted watch bought with his first pay cheque from Spurs. They also took a gold timepiece he inherited from his dad, John, 72, when he died of cancer in 2018.
To add insult to injury, they even nabbed two steaks from the freezer at the flat in Poole, Dorset.
Gascoigne, 53, said: “Police believe that the picture Piers posted of us together filming in London could have alerted burglars that I was away from the house, but I guess we’ll never know.”
He added: “It’s sad because I have so many memories attached to the items.”

But Gazza – hero of the Three Lions’ Italia ‘90 World Cup squad – joked: “Piers, I’ll let you off on the gold watch, but you owe me two f***ing steaks.”
Last night Piers said he would replace the food. He added: “I definitely posted something on Twitter, confirming he was at Elstree [Studios].

“I’ll be buying him some new steaks. I’m very sorry to hear about this, Paul is a great guy and the last thing he needs is to be burgled at a time like this. The least I can do is buy him some new steaks. Does he want T-Bone or Rib Eye?”
Gazza left his home on Monday to support lifelong friend and ex-Wimbledon hardman Vinnie Jones – who has helped him battle alcohol addiction – film his Life Stories chat in London.

Morgan, 55, spotted him in the audience and posted a snap online, with the caption: “Great to see Gazza in the Life Stories audience today, supporting his old nut-cracking mate Vinnie Jones.”
But hours later Gazza returned home to discover his prized possessions were missing. A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: “Enquiries are underway into the incident. No arrests have been made.”
The raid follows a string of burglaries at professional footballers’ homes.
