Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan left viewers in tears after he donated £10,000 to a war veteran’s NHS appeal from his own pocket.
The 55-year-old television presenter was speaking to 99-year-old war veteran Captain Tom Moore about his incredible appeal to raise funds for the coronavirus pandemic.
The Second World War veteran has set himself the challenge of walking 100 lengths of his garden before he turns 100 at the end of the month.
Piers told Tom: “What a pleasure to talk to you, an honour. Thank you for serving your country.
“I’m so glad that we were able through the brilliant NHS to serve you back and to keep you going, and I know that you’re now doing this walk for the NHS. Good luck.

“I want to get you over the line today, here’s what I’m going to do.
“I’m going to put £10,000 of my own money into your fundraising today and I hope that encourages everyone watching at home to do the same and be as generous as they can. Little or small, big or large, whatever you can do, lets get you over the half a million.
“So you’ve got £10k from me.”
The War Veteran was overwhelmed and thanks Piers for his generosity.

He said: “Thank you. It’s been so lovely to speak to you and Susanna” writing on Twitter after the show to the GMB host: “Piers – I salute you.”
Fans rushed to Twitter, reduced to tears at Captain Tom’s inspiring appeal. They were left crying after Piers gave him £10k.
One said: “Turned on this morning just as you donated £10,000 to the NHS. You Piers are amazing.”
