Scarlett Moffatt didn't feel 'a proper presenter' after Ant and Dec Takeaway axe

Gogglebox legend Scarlett Moffatt has opened up about going from a reality TV star on the hit Channel 4 series to a fully-fledged TV presenter on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

After stints on MTV series Beauty School Cop Outs and Gogglebox, Scarlett appeared on I’m A Celeb and was crowned Queen of the Jungle before going on to bag a job alongside Ant and Dec.

However, despite her rise to the top, the starlet now says she never felt she was suitable for a presenting role.

Scarlett said: “I sort of have imposter syndrome, and I think when is this all going to end, when are they going to realise that I’m not a proper TV presenter.”

She added during Elizabeth Day’s How To Fail podcast: “I just have fun, I feel like I’m Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana, it’s the best of both worlds.”

Scarlett bagged a co-presenting role on Takeaway in 2017.

Speaking at the time the overjoyed star said: “I’ve watched Saturday Night Takeaway with my family for as long as I can remember, I’m such a huge fan, so to be part of one of the biggest entertainment shows out there, with two of my all-time TV heroes Ant and Dec, is an absolute dream.”

However, her time on the show was short-lived.

In May 2018, Daily Star Online revealed how ITV had failed to rebook her for the 2019 series.

A source at the time spilled: “Scarlett isn’t contracted for any future series of Takeaway.

“As with Ashley Roberts before her, she’s been on a rolling contract year on year and therefore she has to wait to see if she will be resigned on for the 2019 series.

“With Ant out of TV for the foreseeable future, everything about the next series is up in the air.”

It wasn’t until late 2019 that ITV confirmed Scarlett was indeed not returning.

In November that year an ITV spokesman said: “Scarlett Moffatt won’t feature as a contributor in the 2020 series of Saturday Night Takeaway.

“We thank Scarlett for all of her hard work on the show and will announce details of the new series nearer transmission.”
