Strictly Come Dancing is reportedly set to pair up a same-sex couple for the first time in the history of the show.
The frontrunner to be the professional half of the pairing is Johannes Radebe, 33, who has been vocal about wanting to be part of the same-sex couple.
Last year, Strictly’s rival, Dancing On Ice became the first programme to have a couple of the same sex competing.
Strictly are currently planning to introduce similar steps but the upcoming season of the show is in jeopardy due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Johannes has already performed a same-sex routine with Graziano Di Prima for a one-off performance last year.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Many of Strictly’s stars have called on producers to cast a same-sex couple for the past few years and it’s been decided this will be the year.
“Johannes made history with Graziano in the last series by becoming the first same-sex dancers to perform and he’s made no secret of how keen he’d be to take on the role.”
The insider went on to say: “None of the dancers have been ruled out of the running but Johannes has been the most vocal about stepping forward and making history again on the series.”

Strictly professional legend Anton DuBeke has recently warned that the upcoming season could be delayed as part of the BBC’s emergency plans.
It’s believed that the current pandemic and lockdown is causing havoc for execs who have been struggling to sign celebrities.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Anton said: “The celebrities don’t get involved until the beginning of September,
“So there’s that contingency that we could move it back.”
Daily Star Online has contacted a spokesperson for comment.
