The One Show presenter Gethin Jones awkwardly shut down global superstar Katy Perry on this evening’s show, as the conversation turned to childbirth.
Ahead of the release of her new album, Smile, the 35-year-old songstress appeared via video link to the BBC studio to discuss everything from music to parenthood.
Heavily pregnant, Katy is expecting her first baby with her hubby-to-be Orlando Bloom later this year.
However, when the singer started delving into the nitty-gritty of childbirth with Gethin and his co-host Alex Scott, the conversation quickly grew awkward.

It all started when Gethin wondered whether Katy was feeling anxious about the future, as he asked: “What are you most nervous about Katy?”
Appearing on the show via video call, Katy replied: “I’ll feel a lot more when the baby comes out as far as the scale, the pain scale.
“It’ll be interesting. I’m ready, I’m not afraid. I’ve helped deliver my sister’s two babies in her living room. They are now three and six.”

Offering more detail, Katy started describing the ins and outs of her sister’s pregnancy and delivery.
Jokingly referring to the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, she went on: “It’s a whole process. In a tub, on a bed, her leg back, filming it like Scorsese.”
Suddenly, Gethin made it clear he had heard enough about the childbirth, as he exclaimed: “Enough detail, enough detail on that one.”

Stunned by Gethin’s visible discomfort, Katy and Alex started cracking up over the interruption.
Mocking the presenter, Katy replied: “That was just the start babes.”
Alex Scott poked fun at her co-star, as she jibed: “Gethin’s eyes were popping out like ‘what’.”
The One Show airs on weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
