Timothée Chalamet has spoken for the first time about the photographs which saw his relationship become an internet meme.
The Call Me By Your Name star, 24, was pictured kissing ex-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp while the pair enjoyed a boat ride in Capri, Italy, last year from an unflattering angle.
While some social media users believed the public display of affection was a publicity stunt ahead of the release of their film, The King, Chalamet has finally addressed the set of photographs which left him feeling embarrassed.
Speaking to GQ magazine, the New Yorker shared the heartbreak he faced after the pictures went viral.

“I went to bed that night thinking that was one of the best days of my life,” he said.
Recalling the magical day, the Little Women star added: “I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closing my eyes, I was like, indisputably, ‘That was great.'”
However, he was left shaken after he woke up the following day to see his relatively private life splashed across the global media.

“And then waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real n*b? All pale? And then people are like: ‘This is a P.R. stunt’.
“A P.R. stunt?! Do you think I’d want to look like that in front of all of you?” he exclaimed.
The French Dispatch actor was first linked to Johnny Depp’s daughter in 2018 before they made their red carpet debut together just one year later at the Venice Film Festival while promoting The King.
However, he confirmed to Vogue in May this year that he is “currently single”.
Chalamet recently signed on the dotted line to work alongside Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Ariana Grande in Adam Kay’s Don’t Look Up.
He was recently given the ultimate compliment by Call Me By Your Name co-star Armie Hammer after uploading a smouldering selfie to his Instagram grid.
Gazing into the distance while rocking a baseball cap, Timothée snapped a selfie taken from below which left Armie gushing in the comment section.
The actor, 34, commented: “Ooooo KING SH*T” alongside an aubergine, water droplets, hearts and fire emojis.
However, he confirmed that his NSFW comment was not confirming a follow up to their 2017 film.
“I did not comment to announce anything about Call Me By Your Name. I promise,
“I still haven’t seen the script, I don’t know if there is a script and they’re just not giving it to me or if there isn’t a script. I don’t know exactly where we are in the process,” he told Variety.
