Danni Menzies had an uphill battle on A Place in the Sun when she was tasked with finding a holiday home in Spain for Shane and Sharon.
The couple, who have grown-up children and like playing golf, were looking for a holiday home in La Cala de Mijas on the Costa del Sol to spend the winter months and had a budget of £135,000.
Unfortunately, as shown in Friday’s episode of the Channel 4 show (May 14), they proved to be tricky customers and failed to get seriously interested in a single property Danni took them around.
In one viewing, they even cut the visit short on the grounds the apartment was “claustrophobic”.
The property was a two-bedroom flat in Riviera del Sol on the market for £137,888 and it was located near a fantastic beach as well as shops, bars and restaurants, and two golf courses.
It also had its own private garden – albeit with a busy road behind it – and two communal swimming pools.
The couple had glum faces as Danni took them around the garden and the living room and Shane commented: “It’s claustrophobic.”
Danni seemed to notice the frosty reception while showing them one of the double bedrooms and boldly took the plunge.
“Would you like to see any more here?” she asked.
“No,” said Shane bluntly, and the three left without looking around at any of the other rooms.
Sharon confessed she thought she would be shown something “a bit more open plan” and had not liked the living spaces at all.
By the end of the show, the couple had found two properties they liked but did not commit to anything.
One of the ones they liked was a two-bed apartment in Torrenueva which had a terrace with sea views.
It was on the market for £137,931 and also had a living-dining room and a semi-open plan kitchen.

The other property they seemed fairly keen on was a modern two-bed apartment which also had a terrace and great views out to the sea.
Located in Calahonda, the apartment was valued at £129,310 and had two bedrooms and underground parking.
The couple said they would be keeping a watch on the properties they liked.
