Alex Beresford has returned to social media after he was forced to take a step back after being subjected to racial abuse.
The Good Morning Britain star, 40, has been caught up in a media storm after his on-air row with Piers Morgan following Meghan Markle’s bombshell Oprah interview.
Last month, Alex confronted his co-host about the ‘disgusting’ digs he made towards Prince Harry’s wife amid her confession about suicidal thoughts during her time in the royal family.
Following the explosive on-air bust up, Piers ferociously quit his role as host of Good Morning Britain after six long years.
While Piers chose to leave of his own accord, his loyal fans placed the blame on Alex, and as a result, he became a target for cruel abuse online.
Writing for The Telegraph , he said: “I haven’t announced it (like the former Arsenal player Thierry Henry did this week when he publicly quit social media, in response to anonymous racist bullying) but I have been forced to step away from Twitter and Facebook myself, because it was getting too much.
“I am a strong person, but I am not made of steel.”
However, on Thursday, Alex appeared to put it all behind him as he made an unapologetic return to Twitter.
The TV star broke his silence to pay tribute to missing teenager Richard Okorogheye.
Richard, who was 19-years-old went missing after he opened up about how he was “struggling to cope” with lockdown.
The teen was shielding throughout the coronavirus pandemic due to a sickle cell disease, and it all became too much for him to bare.
Sharing the sad news of the teen’s death, Alex wrote: “Richard Okorogheye’s body has sadly been identified. RIP!”
It comes after Piers sensationally referred to Alex as a ‘stand-in weather guy’ with no journalistic credibility in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson on FOX Nation.
“He is the stand-in weather guy, he’s not a journalist, he’s someone I’ve helped in his career like he has asked me to,” Piers remarked.

Opening up about the on-air row, Piers said: “He came with a pretty premeditated attack on me on a pretty personal level and frankly I just wasn’t going to have it.
“I walked off… I was quite angry in the moment, he claimed that I have a personal vendetta against Meghan Markle, which I don’t.”
