Amanda Holden is one of the biggest stars in British showbiz, and with TV stints across the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, she’s one of TV’s golden girls.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge never fails to drop jaws with her beauty when she poses up a storm in glamorous dresses.
The 50-year-old mum is a lady of many talents too, because she hosts her own Heart Breakfast radio show with Jamie Theakston, she’s written best-selling books like No Holding Back (2013), and even recorded a studio album last year called Songs from My Heart.
However, Amanda’s admirers may be disappointed to find out that the stunning presenter is taken as she’s a happily married woman.
In fact, she’s celebrating her 13th wedding anniversary to record producer Chris Hughes – who she married on December 10 in 2008.
How they met
Amanda first locked eyes with Chris a few months after she divorced from comedian Les Dennis in 2002 – following a tough marriage which involved affairs.
She met floppy-haired Chris in Los Angeles, who is actually the son of Les’s agent, Mike Hughes, and the pair began dating a year later.
Amanda revealed how smitten she felt when she met Chris, saying that he sparked “something primitive” in her and that she felt she “had to be with him”.
Fairytale wedding
The lovebirds decided to tie the knot in December 2008, and they got married at a fancy Somerset members club called Babington House – a Georgian style venue.
Their first daughter Lexi was almost two years old when she attended the fairytale ceremony, where former Formula One racing driver David Coulthard was best man.
Their wedding invitations were hilarious too, because they featured a cartoon image of Amanda dragging Chris to the church on a lead.
Steamy sex confessions
It seems like things haven’t slowed down in the bedroom, because Amanda and Chris still fancy the pants off of each other.
Amanda told The Sun that Chris simply can’t resist her, even when she’s doing household chores, so she gets to decide when they get down to business.
“He can’t keep his hands off me. I actually tell him off because I say, ‘I don’t want to have a kiss and a grope while I’m trying to load the dishwasher.’
“Chrispy’s up for it any time. Always. So it’s when I decide. Poor chap!”
She also told the Mirror: “Oh god I really fancy Chris.
“We’ll be eating dinner in a restaurant, he’ll go to the loo, then I’ll look up, catch a glimpse of a man and think, ‘he’s fit’ and then realise, ‘[explicit] that’s my husband! I still fancy him!”
Hospital tragedies
Amanda and Chris welcomed their second daughter Hollie in 2012, but that wasn’t before they suffered a tragic miscarriage in 2010, and the stillbirth of their late son Theo at seven months in 2011.
Amanda nearly died after giving birth to Hollie too as she haemorrhaged and flatlined for 40 seconds.
Amanda opened up about the moment Theo passed during a chat on the BBC’s Dear NHS Superstars special.
She said: “Luckily for us, an obstetrician was coming past and Jackie [midwife] said to the obstetrician, ‘please can you go in, I can’t hear the patient’s baby’s heartbeat’, and then I heard this guttural screaming.
“It was the most bizarre thing that’s ever happened to me because it was me. I didn’t know I was doing it. I had no control over myself, I thought it was another person making the noise.
“All these women were holding me, calming me down. I forgot entirely that I’d have to get the baby out and I’d have to give birth to our son.”
Amanda’s secrets to a happy marriage
The pair now live together with Hollie and Alexa at their home in Petersham, Surrey.
Amanda seems to take full advantage of their garden, too, because when Chris dared her to jump naked on the family trampoline, Amanda quickly obliged.
She told her Heart FM listeners: “I would encourage anyone at home to strip off and have a cheeky bounce.”
Although they tend to keep their family life private, proud mum Amanda gives fans a glimpse into their home when she posts sweet snaps of her cohort.
She has now been with Chris for almost 19 years, and she has spilled the secrets to their long-lasting spark in an interview.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine in 2019, Amanda said: “Chris is very funny and errs on the side of lightness. We can make jokes out of any situation throughout the best and darkest times of our lives.
“He’s rubbish at romance, but he’s there for the solid things – such as keeping my car clean and making sure I relax.”
She added: “He’s a proper bloke who looks after me. I’m a strong, opinionated woman, but he helps steer the Mandy ship.”
The presenter once confessed that it all boils down to their shared sense of humour, and that they love teasing each other.
Amanda said: “We take the Mickey out of each other mercilessly.”
Chris’s near-death experience
Amanda previously revealed on her Heart FM breakfast show that Chris had almost died choking on a piece of pasta while in Los Angeles.
Fortunately he was saved by American actor Thomas Haden Church, who came to the rescue after Chris turned blue.
Speaking on the show, she said: “We were on holiday in America and Chris had to have a lunch with an American comedian and I was back at the hotel with the kids.
“And I did keep looking at my watch thinking, ‘Oh brilliant, this is going really well for him, he’s been absolutely ages.’
“But actually what happened was, as he was eating pasta he got a bit lodged in his throat, thought, ‘Oh OK I’ll have a bit of Diet Coke or whatever to swish it down’.
“It expanded and he was doing that British thing of carrying on and making eye contact with this American comedian. And he completely went blue, could not breathe.”
She continued: “Out of nowhere this man came and did the Heimlich manoeuvre on him and he threw up all over the table.
“He turned round and Chris saw Thomas Hayden Church. The guy was like, ‘Are you OK?’ Chris just goes, ‘Yeah, I loved you in Sideways.'”
