BBC Breakfast make festive change to set after lack of decorations sparked fan outrage

BBC Breakfast bosses have appeared to listen to their viewers but finally putting up their Christmas decorations.

Fans took to social media on Friday morning to moan at the lack of festive spirit in the BBC studio as Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt presented the latest news headlines.

However, a huge Christmas tree covered in colourful baubles and other festive ornaments could be seen behind Naga and Charlie on Saturday morning.

Pointing out the new addition to the studio, Naga said: “We maybe used to used to seeing houses adorned with festive sparkle this time of year.

“Of course, Breakfast now in the studio we’ve got our Christmas trees in.”

She turned to Charlie and asked: “Have you noticed? We’ve got three. We’ve gone all out this year.”

“Yeah,” Charlie simply replied.

Naga continued: “One man has taken his light show on the road.”

Charlie added: “Nicholas Martin has covered his Mini Cooper in 2,000, yes 2,000, Christmas lights in a bid to speak some Christmas cheer and raise thousands for charity.”

A segment later played showing Nicolas’ great work.

During Friday’s show, disgruntled viewers were confused when they tuned into the popular breakfast show to find no decorations or towering tree despite it being just two weeks until Christmas Eve.

“Why does the set look so miserable? Where’s the Christmas decorations?” one asked the programme’s social media page.

Another said: “Where’s the Breakfast Christmas tree?”

A third took to the social media platform and wrote: “Hi @BBCBreakfast where are the Christmas decorations? Have they been forgotten?”

Someone else was puzzled when they asked: ” Where are the Christmas trees on Breakfast news?”

While a fifth said: “All BBC shows have Christmas decorations but where are the trees at BBC Breakfast?”

And it’s not just BBC Breakfast that were lacking when it comes to Christmas spirit.

One viewer in the North asked why their local news programme on the BBC is without Christmas decorations too, saying: “Why no Christmas decorations in the studio. Is this the north losing out again? Everywhere else within BBC land appears to be festooned with them.”
