BBC Breakfast uproar as fans say set looks 'miserable' without Xmas decorations

BBC Breakfast viewers have taken to Twitter to demand to know where this year’s Christmas decorations are, saying the set looks “miserable”.

Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt hosted the latest episode from a bare studio that was lacking in Christmas spirit, sparkle and some much-needed festive cheer – despite being more than a week into December.

Usually the BBC Breakfast studio displays a large Christmas tree in the centre of the room, dripping in decorations, while brightening up the mornings of viewers at home.

But the set is still exactly as it has been for the entirety of 2021, with not a single bauble or bit of tinsel in sight.

Viewers of the popular breakfast programme were confused when they spied no Christmas decorations despite it being two weeks until Christmas Eve

Disgruntled viewers were confused when they tuned into the popular breakfast show to find no decorations or towering tree despite it being just two weeks until Christmas Eve.

“Why does the set look so miserable? Where’s the Christmas decorations?” one asked the programme’s social media page.

Another said: “Where’s the Breakfast Christmas tree?”

A third took to the social media platform and wrote: “Hi @BBCBreakfast where are the Christmas decorations? Have they been forgotten?”

Someone else was puzzled when they asked: ” Where are the Christmas trees on Breakfast news?”

While a fifth said: “All BBC shows have Christmas decorations but where are the trees at BBC Breakfast?”

And it’s not just BBC Breakfast that are lacking when it comes to Christmas spirit.

One viewer in the North asked why their local news programme on the BBC is without Christmas decorations too, saying: “Why no Christmas decorations in the studio. Is this the north losing out again? Everywhere else within BBC land appears to be festooned with them.”

In 2019 the tree went up on Monday, December 9 – but as of December 10, 2021, no tree can be seen

Back in 2019 BBC Breakfast took to Twitter to document their tree going up on December 9, saying: “Our BBC Breakfast Christmas tree is up,” while posting a photo of a large green Christmas tree adorned with red baubles and poinsettias.

Two years ago the programme announced their decorations had gone up on a Monday, so we could potentially expect to see their glitzy tree gracing the studio after the weekend.

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC1
