BBC news host Reeta Chakrabarti thanked a stranger for their act of kindness after she attended A&E late on Friday night.
The 56-year-old reached out to a person in the waiting room via Twitter on Saturday morning to thank the “complete stranger” for their support when the reporter was in pain as she waited to be seen.
The news favourite wanted to thank her supportive new pal after he bought her a range of cold drinks while she winced in pain as they sat together in the London hospital.
And after his kind gesture, the news anchor reached out to her good Samaritan online to thank him for his help in her hour of need.
She penned: “I was in A and E last night – it wasn’t serious thankfully but I was in pain – a lovely person in the waiting room saw I was suffering and went to buy me some cold drinks.
“Just like that, a complete stranger. Hope you are on Twitter, thank you.”
She added: “We spend a lot of time reporting bad news, so I wanted to share a simple act of human kindness – they do happen!”
And her loyal legion of fans couldn’t help but be grateful to see some positive news in the media once again as followers reached out to check on how the news reader was recovering online.
One user wrote: “How very kind in amongst all the bad news, it’s easy to forget how small acts of kindness can make a difference. Hope you’re feeling better.”
Another added: “That’s lovely to read & restores your faith in people. I hope you’re ok.”
A third chimed in with: “Sorry to hear you were feeling unwell @reetabbc and so glad you are ok.
“What a lovely person to help you like that … we are surrounded by lovely caring people who step out of nowhere to help and care. Get better quick Reeta.”
